SIM IYEO Sapporo International Volunteering Program 2017

SIM IYEO SAPPORO Poster

SAPPORO, HOKKAIDO

Hokkaido 北海道 merupakan pulau ke-21 yang terbesar di dunia. Kepulauan Hokkaido telah dinobatkan sebagai Destinasi Terbaik Asia 2016 oleh Lonely Planet

Hokkaidō's perfect powder snow put it on the international map, but it has also blinded visitors to the year-round charms of Japan's northernmost island: a wild, mountainous landscape that begs exploration on foot, bike or motorbike; alpine villages where you’ll stumble upon hidden onsen; and sumptuous seafood – including crab, sea urchin and scallops – pulled from rich, cold seas. Hokkaidō has become a lot more accessible this year thanks to the new bullet train linking its southern port city, Hakodate, to Tokyo. (click to watch video)

Sapporo

SI Malaysia volunteer team left Hokkaido safely today. They shovelled snow at elderly homes and a disabled people facility, exchanged cultural understanding at a high school. They brought us many smile and warm heart. Thank you for coming to Sapporo and see you again!"

It was a great honour to participate & to get to know you. This program had help me to have a better understanding of the Malaysia-Japan relationship & culture. I personally believe that you have open up a new category of tourism which is volunteering tourism. I also have great hope that this will an annual bilateral program between Malaysia & Japan. As of now I & a few friends are ready to support you if our Japanese friends are organizing a trip here. Again thank you so much Johan & team.

Thank you Johan for choosing Sapporo for your international volunteer project. It is great honor for us to take part in your great program. Sapporo is the capital city which has 1.9 million citizens, and also has 5 m pile of snow falls in a year, this is the no.1 in the world. Even we have a lot of work and cost for our winter life, we live and enjoy. I am really happy my Malaysian friends touch our life and enjoyments, such as Snow festival, ski and shovelling snow! Hope you come again winter and beautiful summer, too. Thank you very much for KABESA and participants warm support and cooperation.
Kudos to you Johan san! You have done an excellent job indeed considering it was the first time experience for you to handle quite a large crowd with different ages and backgrounds. You were cool even in the midst of feeling down, you managed to remain composed - Alhamdulillah Allah was there all along to guide you and bless you with the strength. All the best in your future ventures. Gambatte Johan!
Thank you so much Johan and team for the hard work and allowing us to be a part of this amazing journey. We learn a lot about the nature of volunteerism from you guys. It was truly a rewarding experience.

*SSEAYP refers to the Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP)
*In bahasa, it is known as the Program Kapal Belia Asia Tenggara (KABESA)

On the other hand, IYEO is the International Youth Exchange Organization of Japan (IYEO). It is the association of the mainly former participants of the international youth exchange programs (including SSEAYP Japan, Ship for World Youth, International Youth Development Exchange Program) organized by the Cabinet Office (the Management and Coordination Agency, Japan Prime Minister's Office). The head office is located in Tokyo and it has active volunteer-based assemblies in each of the 47 prefectures. The IYEO spearheads a global network of organizations of former participating youths (PY) that stretches to more than 500 countries.

What is SSEAYP?

The Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP) is an annual program sponsored by the Japanese Government and supported by the member-countries of ASEAN. The program brings together more than 300 youth from ASEAN countries and Japan, providing them with the unique opportunity to live together on board the ship Nippon Maru/ Fuji Maru for over 40-50 days.

SSEAYP started in January 1974 based on Joint Statements issued between Japan and the five ASEAN countries, namely, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Brunei Darussalam joined in 1985. Vietnam participated in the program in 1996 while Laos and Myanmar participated in 1998, and Cambodia in 2000. The aim of SSEAYP is to foster friendship and greater understanding among youths from Japan and ASEAN. It also seeks to broaden their international outlook.

A series of activities are lined up for the selected participants. The Participating Youth (PY) will live together on board the ship Nippon Maru. The program during voyages includes discussions on social and youth matters, cultural introductions, sports, recreation and club activities. Activities at each port-of-call include interaction with the local youth, courtesy calls on dignitaries and institutional visits, as well as community service and homestay experience.

Singapore Day Trip (Bhg. 1)

Singapore Day Trip (Bhg. 2)

Kenalkan bandar Tainan, macam mana nak naik bas, tren dekat sini, dekat mana tempat-tempat murah, berbaloi nak beli barang dan pada sebelah malam pula, bawa mereka makan tauhu busuk 臭豆腐 (chòu dòufu) ! Senang hati bila dia pun cakap tauhu tu SEDAP! Kedai tu pun nampak bersih! Saya memang suka makan tauhu busuk ni. Baunya busuk semacam tauhu ni dah melalui proses fermentasi, tapi bau busuk dia bagi saya taklah sekuat bau buah durian dan petai! Bila dah siap dia goreng, bau busuknya berkurangan. Rasanya macam kita makan tauhu sumbat. *Tips dia kalau n...

Huayu Enrichment Scholarship: The Application

Sambil-sambil cari kerja, ternampak pula 'timeline' dekat Facebook gambar ini... Alumni? Taiwan? Apa kak H buat dekat Taiwan? Bukan ke dia dah kerja? Sempat pula belajar ke Taiwan? Dia belajar apa dekat sana? Scroll 'timeline' Facebook kak H, tanya kak L yang merupakan rakan karib kak H-saya sebilik dengan kak L sewaktu pengajian ijazah 3 ta hun dulu....Rupanya kak H belajar mandarin (juga dikenali sebagai huayu, guoyu, hanyu, putonghua, zhongwen, standard chinese ) di National Taiwan University  (NTU) menggunakan biasiswa Huayu Enrichment Scholarship!   Apabila saya buka laman web Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia (TECO) , ada pelbagai biasiswa yang ditawarkan oleh Taiwan:  MOE Taiwan Scholarship MOST Taiwan Scholarship MOE APEC Scholarship ICDF Scholarship Taiwan Fellowship Research Grant . . . dan . MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship - bila tengok tarikh akhir mohon lagi 3 minggu!  31.3.2017!   Macam seronok je be...

Singapore Day Trip (Bhg. 3)

Pertama, kami melawat National Library Singapore untuk melihat pameran 'Tales of the Malay World: Manuscripts and Early Books' . Masuk percuma. 'Locker' percuma. Rasa kagum melihat sendiri naskah lama tulisan jawi. Sangat halus & teliti penulisannya. Bugis Junction Bangunan perpustakaan. Kami dapat tahu mengenai pameran ini setelah membaca sebuah artikel di surat khabar New Straits Times>  On the Trails of Malay Manuscripts Pameran di Tingkat 10. Khusyuk membaca ...
